BPS: A KEY TO SUCCESS

“Sharing, collaboration and efficiency”. These are the key concepts of the Bosch Production System (BPS)

The Bosch Production System (BPS), which has been applied in EDiM since November 2018 in both company sites, is a working system used in the Bosch world to optimise all the processes (men and machines), eliminating waste and simplifying the everyday working operations. These are the prime objectives of a method inspired by the Toyota Waty, a different, streamlined way of perceiving and understanding processes, by eliminating the activities that do not carry added value and so optimising the value chain.

A TRUE “MADE-TO-MEASURE SUIT” THAT ADAPTS TO THE CONTEXT IN WHICH IT IS APPLIED, IMPROVING THE BASIC MODUS OPERANDI WITHOUT UPSETTING THE OPERATIONS.

BPS focuses on the figure of the collaborator, favouring collaboration over subordination. The continuous discussions and feedback of those who work in the department every day are essential for defining new standards, and in the perspective of continuous improvement. Everyone is made to feel a part of this revolution in the way of understanding the work in hand: a streamlined, fluid model that adapts well to all the changes and deviations that today’s turbulent market presents.

This approach was behind many activities based on the “5S method” and it was implemented in parallel in both sites with the goal of standardising and further unifying the two plants: from the reorganisation of the flow of material, made more linear and better identified using horizontal signage, to the definition of the most suitable workstations for the operators, to the elimination of all activities with no added value for the company. Password: compliance with the standards in place, working in order and according to a rule. A job that brings benefits for the safety of everyone and for product quality.
