CUTTING EMISSIONS TO PLAN THE FUTURE OF MOBILITY TOGETHER

EDiM has always strived to be a Green Foundry, but nowadays, as the market for electric mobility evolves, sustainable production processes are gaining importance in the market. The substantial decrease in emissions achieved at our factories has thus become a valuable asset to be marketed.

Since its inception, EDiM is committed to reducing the environmental impact and energy consumption of its production process. We aspire to be a Green Foundry and, over the years, we have increased our efforts to produce more sustainably. We have made a name for ourselves as one of the first companies in Europe to purchase electricity exclusively from renewable sources. In 2019 we also became Carbon Neutral, offsetting our carbon dioxide emissions.

WE HAVE ALWAYS AIMED TO ACHIEVE A SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION PROCESS AND ARE PROUD OF IT AND, TODAY, THE MARKET INCREASINGLY APPRECIATES IT AS WELL.

In fact, as we all know, the automotive market is currently undergoing radical change: electric mobility is expanding rapidly and this trend is set to accelerate over the next few years. Generally speaking, manufacturers and consumers are focusing more and more on sustainability aspects and on reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere: in this respect, it is no longer enough to consider emissions due to fuel consumption only, but it is also necessary to take into consideration emissions over the entire lifecycle of a car, from manufacture to use, right up to its disposal. Therefore, a holistic approach to sustainability is increasingly preferred and rewarded by the market.

CUTTING CO2 EMISSIONS FROM THE PRODUCTION OF COMPONENTS FOR THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY TO ZERO IN THE NEAR FUTURE IS THE GOAL THAT CAR MANUFACTURERS ARE WORKING TOWARDS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THEIR SUPPLIERS.

This is why Carbon Footprint specifications and constraints – an index that is generally measured in kilograms of CO2-equivalent emissions per kilo of finished product sold, which summarises the overall impact that a specific production process has on the environment – play an increasingly important role, even in automotive manufacturers’ requests for proposals. This index also allows the production processes implemented by various manufacturers of components for the automotive industry to be compared with each other in order to assess their environmental impact.

SUCH AN ANALYSIS RESULTED IN EDiM RECEIVING MAJOR RECOGNITION FOR HAVING SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED ITS EMISSIONS COMPARED TO ITS EUROPEAN COMPETITORS.

This is a huge achievement for us, which rewards our long-standing commitment to environmental sustainability.
